USING ILLUSTRATOR MOCK-UPS

PRO TIP: The VERY first thing you should do after opening your mock-up file in Illustrator is do a SAVE-AS. Rename your working file and save it, always leave the original mock-up file in-tact for future use.

In this quick start clip, I’ll be showing you how to use an Illustrator mock-up file. I provide step-by-step instructions on how to navigate the Layers panel, apply a pattern swatch to the wallpaper area, and insert a vector artwork and raster images into the photo frame area. I also show you how I proportionally scale images and adjust transparency.

This particular mock-up allows you to show more than one pattern; either by varying scales, and/or colorways of the same pattern or showing 2 completely different patterns together. I’ll guide you through the process of applying pattern swatches to each layer. While also showing you how to rotate, and scale your patterns to help the final image look more realistic. By the end of this short tutorial, you’ll be able to add your own patterns to this free mock-up, and then export for screens…generating an image you can use for print or social media.
