tidings of joy

When I walked outside Sunday there was a piece of paper on my stoop. I figured it was a church thing or an advert for the new local Pizza/Chinese place. It was rolled up so it could have been anything, really. Once I unfurled the piece of paper and got a look at it I noticed it was not an advert or a church thing. It was a hand drawn holiday themed note… and all it said was “We are thankful to have you as a neighbor. Happy Holidays!”

I looked around and saw a few more scrolls in the mailboxes of my neighbors. Smiling, I thought to myself: Holy crap this is so nice, what a sweet thing to do. The note was unsigned, which I think makes the gesture sweeter. Nobody was trying to put themselves over or looking for favors. Just good… for goodness sake…
